I have installed the Media Player Classic and wanted to load the subtitles for my rmvb video file but I got this instead
Do you know how to change the video renderer type for a rmvb file. I would really appriciate your help :
go to view - options - playback - output and check the video renderer you want. it says there which ones you need for subtitles to work.

I had the same problem like you with Volver with Penelope Cruz, very nice movie but subs suxs. I ve been trying VLC and Media Classic and BS Player with no result. A big help was to reinstall directx and all the codecs also a new version of subs for the same movie. All these players use their own codecs and play subs if you keep them in the same folder. If your subs are ok and work the player show you subs.

Just a guest with a problem
Hey guys,
I had the same problem with media player classic. A lot of the advice I read left out one crucial point which I help put here
In media player classic go to View - Options - Playback - Output - DirectShow Video - VMR7 renderless or VMR9 renderless. Then when you play the file, go to File -- Load Subtitle.
That works for me. I hope it helps someone else.

if the subtitle file is. sub sometimes it would play only the default language and most player won t show options to choose a different sub language so after changing to VMR7 or VMR9 you can access the option from
Play- Filters- DirectVobSub auto-loading version -
and you ll see the list of subtitle languages available, choose the one you want

Can someone help me out here. I m having trouble getting embedded subtitles to display when viewing MKV files in the latest version of Media Player Classic updated it last week. The files are MKV, with H264 encoding, Vorbis audio, and Advanced SubStation Alpha ASS embedded subtitles that is, no separate subtitle file. I ve followed all the advice I can find, and after extensive Google searches on the topic, I ve hit a brick wall.
I ve tried both VMR7 renderless and VMR9 renderless DirectShow video output as well as every other output option, JIC. I ve tried using the DirectVobSub and MPC internal subtitle renderers. I ve tried all available options under Navigate- Subtitle Language. I ve set Compatibility- Autoload VSFilter to Yes under the Haali Media Splitter. And, of course, I ve restarted MPC after accepting each of these changes, just to make sure.
I ve tried playing the files in VLC Media Player, and the subtitles do, in fact, exist. Sadly, VLC runs very poorly for me, so I d rather stick with MPC which runs great, aside from this issue. I ve tried these files on two different machines, with the same results.
Does anyone have any other suggestions, aside from giving up on these files. Thanks.

I had a very similar problem, but I have Windows Media Player Classic v6.4.9.0 and Vista 32bit. I followed what you did, setting the DirectShow video output to VMR9 renderless, and it worked. Nothing else worked, and I couldn t find much else on the Internet about this issue. I was thinking though, if it tried what you did and I got the same results that you did, I was going to just convert the. mkv file to another format and try to see if that would, either run smoother on VLC or work on the Media Player Classic.

for MPC player name of subs and name of movie file have to be same so it can be loaded. then go to view options playback output: VMR7 renderless or VMR9 renderless. other options dont touch leave it to system defaults. restart MPC. file load subs if it doesnt load at start. if strange characters show up go: view options subtitels default style font: in drop list should find yr country or region. cya

Bluray: Problem with forced subtitles
I ask for help to solve this problem.
forced subtitles are those subtitles that appear when a scene requires it and then disappear. This subtitle, other than permanent, turn on the actors speak a language other than the one selected, or when it is always a sign written in different languages.
In the case of film Angels and Demons Italian version in the opening scene from 3.54 to 4.40 minutes is spoken French language losing part of the meaning of the scenes, this is a very important fact for the understanding of a film.
This is the example of Bluray Angels and Demons seen with PowerDVD9 in Italian

url diSenza titulo-3.PNG img diSenza titulo-3.PNG /img /url
Wonder if you can resolve this problem with some setting or codec would be a major step forward for this great player to play Bluray, but should be complete for the navigation of the menu, but I think this is still possible for a matter of licensing.
Thank

Thanks bujju. This is what worked for me, I changed the name of the movie to exactly what it was inststead of those long names with like dvdrip2010xvid.avi at the end of the title but when u do that you have to change the name of the subtitle file to whatever you change it to. Thanks that worked.bujju wrote:

I am playing a video in MPC and its got embedded subtitles. I ve used the KLM Mega Codec Pack and the subtitles work just fine. The only problem is they appear in simple Arial instead of the preset version. It works in VLC where i get to see the subtitles in their original font size, shape and colour. But for MPC with KLM or without it they get resized and modified to a simple white Arial bold font. I d rather like to see the more colourful version for MPC. I ve tried everything that s given above and it hasn t worked yet. So I d be grateful if someone could help me out.
